Home Learning
Once the children have settled into school in Term 1, we start setting homework weekly. The children will be expected to write their homework in their homework diaries on a Monday, when it is set and independently complete over the course of the week.
Please sign your child's homework diary at the end of the week to acknowledge that you have seen them complete their homework, including reading.
Please see the homework expectations below:
- Reading:
It is essential that children read daily, preferably to an adult. The benefits to learning and development of the individual are huge, widely-documented and supported by research. Reading is the best gift you can give your child. Please ensure you are reading for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, completing quizzes online, now available at https://ukhosted55.renlearn.co.uk/2240591.
Parents please refer to the following information regarding AR: https://help.renlearn.co.uk/AR/ARParentGuide
- MyMaths:
Maths is set on a Monday and is expected to be completed by the following Monday. It should take approximately 20 minutes to complete.
- Spelling:
Spelling Shed is also set on a Monday. The children are set a new list of words each week and should spend at least 5 minutes three times a week completing spelling quizzes. (https://www.spellingshed.com/en-gb)
- Times Tables:
Times Tables Rockstars should be completed for five minutes at least three times a week. (https://ttrockstars.com/).
- Topic Project:
Each term, we ask the children to complete a piece of homework that relates to the term's topic. This project can be a piece of artwork, writing, ICT based, a poster or display or cooking. Please see the termly homework plans below for homework ideas.
