Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.

Our Governing Body

The key role of the Governors is to support the school as critical friends, providing a strategic overview and ensuring accountability. They are unpaid volunteers who represent the community the school serves. 

If you wish to contact the governors all communication should be addressed to Ms Sharon Page, the clerk, via the school office.

The governing body is made up of 8 governors as shown below:

  • 3 parent governors; appointed by parental election.
  • 1 LA governor; appointed by the local authority.
  • 1 staff governor; elected by a vote of the staff
  • 1 Headteacher
  • 1 foundation governor
  • Up to 4 co-opted governors, appointed by the governing body to fill any gaps in their skills base.

Mrs Poppy Montgomery

Having lived in the Parish of St Nicholas–at–Wade and attended the Church for the last 43 years I am delighted to have joined the Governing body of the school.

I initially qualified as a primary school teacher and moved to Thanet following my marriage.  I have spent the last 42 years running a farm/holiday letting business locally.

As a Grandmother of four I realise the importance of these formative years in instilling and developing the values and skills in young people that will serve them well throughout their lives.

Mrs Georgina Cooper

My name is Georgie Cooper and I have two boys at the school, Austin and Grayson.  I’m currently a clinical specialist physiotherapist in the NHS, managing a team at the QEQM. I have recently joined the school Governor's team and hope to bring my experience of Health and Safety to the school.

Mrs Kayleigh Williamson

I’m a qualified accountant with over 15 years of experience working in practice, and I’m excited to bring my financial skills to the governing body at St Nicholas. As a parent of three children—two of whom currently attend the school—I’m deeply invested in our community and passionate about supporting St Nicholas’s continued growth. Having lived locally all my life, I feel proud to be part of the St Nicholas family. It’s a joy to see our children thriving, learning, and building lasting memories in such a nurturing and inspiring environment.
