Welcome to Year Four

A warm welcome to the Beech Class website page. Here you will find general information about the class; links to resources and homework tasks and an overview of the learning taking place in school.

'Term by Term' takes you to the learning we will complete in each term in English, Maths, Topic, PE, RE and Heartsmart and the 'Home Learning' tab takes you to our home learning overviews.

PE in Year 6 is on a Tuesday and a Wednesday - children should bring their PE kit into school on Tuesday and wear it to school on Wednesday.

What does our weekly timetable look like?

Home Learning

Pupils in Year 4 should be reading at home for a minimum of 20/30 minutes a day. Quizzes can be found using their accelerated reader accounts on https://ukhosted55.renlearn.co.uk/2240591.

It is vital that they practice their times tables using Times Tables Rockstars (https://ttrockstars.com/). 

Spellings will be set each week, these will be stuck in their homework diaries.

How do we reward children in Beech Class?

We believe in developing positive behaviours through consistent practice – after all, we are what we repeatedly do! Our focus is on recognising and encouraging the behaviours we want children to notice and build upon. Through our visuals of building on solid rock and beware of the sand, children learn that their choices shape their future and are not simply about complying with rules.

All children begin on the solid rock, and we focus on recognising and encouraging the behaviours we want them to notice and strengthen. When children demonstrate exceptional behaviour, they can earn a Headteacher’s Award, where they receive praise, feedback, and a certificate. Our visuals help children understand that their choices shape their future. If a child is in danger of slipping onto the sand, the teacher supports them with strategies to help them return to the rock, ensuring the approach remains positive, supportive, and growth-focused.
