Term 6

Changing Landscapes

Term 6 Overview

The world looks very different now than it did hundreds of years ago, and a lot of that is thanks to humans! For centuries we have been changing the landscapes around us to improve our lives and help us feel better connected to new places! We have built tunnels, bridges, airports on islands that never used to exist and even super cities that were once desert! Grab your atlas, your tools and let's get ready to explore how the world (and our own local lives) have been improved thanks to changing our landscape!

Our knowledge organisers summarise the learning that will take place each half term or topic.  They include the key knowledge and vocabulary that we want our pupils to learn. Please share these with your child and help them to get familiar with them.

Maths

This term we will be learning all about position and direction, how we can use the correct language to describe where things are and how they have moved. We will also be learning how to describe turns and give other people and Bee Bots clear instructions to follow. We will then be learning all about the world of statistics, collecting our own data and learning the different ways we can present this.

English

This term we will be continuing our learning based on 'The Twits' by writing our own prank chapter in the style of Roald Dahl, being inspired by his creativity and description! We will then be looking at non-fiction by writing our own explanation texts. We will be researching a topic that we find exciting and using this research to present our findings in a more fomal but exciting way!
